Freight Forwarding Services in Abu Dhabi
Your Trusted Logistics Company
Frontier Freight Services LLC has been serving businesses in Abu Dhabi and across the UAE since 2010, moving commercial and industrial cargo into, out of and across the United Arab Emirates. We are a freight forwarding and logistics company based in Abu Dhabi, and we handle the full journey of a shipment — collection at origin, carriage by sea, air or road, customs clearance, storage where required, and final delivery to the consignee's door. Our clients are importers, exporters, contractors and manufacturers who need cargo to arrive on the date they were promised, cleared correctly and without unexpected charges. What follows is a practical account of what we do, where we operate, and how we handle the parts of the process that most often cause delay.
Your Trusted Shipping Company in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi is not a straightforward market to ship into. One shipment can pass through Khalifa Port. It then moves to an ICAD warehouse. Next, it goes to a Customs inspection bay in Abu Dhabi. Finally, it reaches a delivery address in Mussafah. Each spot has its own paperwork, timing, and ways things can go wrong.Frontier Freight Services LLC exists to give businesses one partner that understands the entire chain, rather than relying on several separate companies for different stages. We are a shipping company based in Abu Dhabi and operate on the mainland. We have direct ties to the emirate's logistics network. Our team uses the Advanced Trade & Logistics Platform to file declarations. We also work with terminal operators at Khalifa Port and Zayed Port, book capacity with shipping lines and airlines, and handle the trucking leg through our haulage partners. You’ll always work with the same coordinator for your needs. This applies whether you need to inspect a container, check a certificate of origin, or manage a shipment when a vessel moves to the next sailing. No ticket queue involved. The commercial argument for working with us is straightforward. Freight costs usually aren’t where money is lost. Money is often lost through demurrage, detention, terminal storage, re-submitted declarations, and missed production dates. Those costs are often the result of paperwork being prepared late or incorrectly. We front-load that work, review your documents before the cargo moves, and flag problems while they are still cheaper and easier to fix. Our Freight Forwarding Services
Every forwarder claims reliability, so here is the substance behind ours. First, we quote fully. Our quote breaks down freight, terminal handling, clearance, duty, delivery, and surcharges. This helps you compare us easily and budget accurately. Hidden destination charges are an industry-standard problem, and we do not use them.Second, we work ahead of the cargo. Documents are reviewed before shipment, declarations are prepared before arrival, and problems are raised while they can still be solved cheaply.Third, you get one accountable contact — a named coordinator with your file, reachable directly, who knows the history of your shipment without needing to be briefed again.Fourth, we tell you bad news early. When a vessel rolls or an inspection is called, you hear it from us the same day with options, rather than discovering the issue when the goods fail to arrive. Finally, we are based here. Our team is in Abu Dhabi, our relationships are with Abu Dhabi terminals and Abu Dhabi Customs, and our knowledge of ICAD, KEZAD, Mussafah, and Ruwais delivery conditions comes from working in these areas. Several forwarders marketing to Abu Dhabi operate from Dubai and treat the emirate as an outbound service area. Proximity matters when a container needs collecting today. Frontier Freight Services L.L.C. has been established in Abu Dhabi since 2010 and operates under Abu Dhabi Economic Licence No. CN-1181814, providing more than 16 years of local operating history.
Industries We Serve in Abu Dhabi
Industries have different challenges. A forwarder who understands your field can spot issues early. This way, they can help before problems arise, not just report them later. The oil, gas, and petrochemical sector is Abu Dhabi's top freight generator. Its needs are tough. They include oversized and heavy equipment, offshore delivery points, hazardous chemicals, and urgent spare parts. A delayed valve can stop production. Construction and engineering clients buy materials. They import steel, aluminum, glass, and pipes. They also get machinery and prefabricated parts. Each item has a deadline. Manufacturing operations in ICAD, KEZAD and Mussafah need reliable inbound raw materials and outbound finished goods. We serve many clients, including:Pharmaceuticals and medical: They need strict temperature control. They also need product registration.Food and beverage importers: They handle chilled, frozen, and ambient goods. All need food safety clearance.Automotive distributors: They move vehicles, auto parts, and tires.Aerospace and marine operators: They focus on parts and AOG needs.Defense contractors: They need special approval.Retail and e-commerce: They require warehousing and distribution.Electronics importers: Their goods need approval.Energy projects: They transport transformers and generators.
Our Certifications & Accreditations
Accreditation is the difference between a company that says it is competent and one that follows recognized industry standards. Frontier Freight Services L.L.C. has been operating in Abu Dhabi since 2010 and supports its freight and logistics operations through recognized professional standards and industry affiliations. These include IATA Cargo Agency Accreditation, FIATA membership, ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System certification. Together, these credentials reflect our commitment to international freight handling standards, quality-controlled operations, workplace safety and a reliable global logistics network. Our focus is not on displaying logos for appearance, but on maintaining recognized standards that support consistent, compliant and professional service.
Abu Dhabi Customs & Compliance
Compliance is not paperwork for its own sake; it is the mechanism that decides whether your cargo is released or held. Import into the UAE mainland requires an importer registered with the customs authority and holding a valid customs client code, a trade licence covering the activity, and a complete documentary file for each consignment. The core file is consistent: commercial invoice, detailed packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, and certificate of origin. Beyond that, requirements are product-driven. Foodstuffs may require food safety clearance and label approval. Pharmaceuticals and medical devices may require registration, marketing authorization and import approval from the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), depending on the product. Telecommunications equipment may require approval from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), while certain electrical and regulated products may require conformity approval through the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT). Dangerous goods require appropriate classification, packaging and declarations in accordance with applicable IATA or IMO requirements. Timber packaging may require treatment certification. Some categories are restricted and require specific permits before arrival, and cargo landing without the necessary approvals can remain at the terminal while storage and other charges continue to accrue.Duty and tax are assessed on the customs value, which is generally based on the cost, insurance and freight value of the goods, with the applicable tariff determined by HS classification. Certain categories may qualify for preferential or zero rates, while others can attract higher rates. Value added tax applies to imports under the standard mechanism, with deferment available to eligible registered importers. Free zone and transit movements are treated differently from mainland entries, and goods later re-exported may qualify for a refund of duty already paid. As of August 2026, the standard UAE customs duty is generally 5% of the customs value of imported goods, although the applicable rate may vary depending on HS classification, product type, country of origin and any available exemption or preferential treatment. The standard UAE VAT rate is 5%. In Abu Dhabi, customs clearance is administered by the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs, with customs and trade services available through the Advanced Trade & Logistics Platform (ATLP). Depending on the type of cargo, additional approvals may also be required from bodies such as the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE), the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), or the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT).
